Today is the two year anniversary of Lady Gaga’s debut album The Fame, which was first released in Canada on August 19th, 2008!

The album reached top 10 in over thirty countries and has sold over 13 million copies worldwide. In the United States, despite debuting at No. 17 with only 24,000 copies sold, it became the best-selling 2008 album.

In 2009, Gaga released her sophomore effort The Fame Monster, which charted as a re-release of The Fame.

The Fame / The Fame Monster spawned seven smash hits which reached top 10 on almost every chart. Tracks from the album have sold a combined total of more than 25 million digital copies in the United States, more than any other album in history.
